Preston Fryzel landed dozens of offers throughout the recruiting process, but it was the final one the 2026 Ohio tight end reported that ended up being the right one for him.
On Monday, Fryzel announced his commitment to Notre Dame over offers from schools like Miami, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Cincinnati and Duke among several others.
Shortly after receiving his offer from the Irish last month, Fryzel made an unofficial visit to South Bend, followed by an official visit earlier this month.
“I've been on a ton of visits and when I stepped foot on Notre Dame, I knew that's where I wanted to go,” he said. “Honestly, everything felt right.”
The Central Catholic High School standout felt at home at Notre Dame.
“Stepping on campus, it reminds me a lot of Central and the people that surround Notre Dame and Central,” he said. “It's all about the people over there and there's a lot of tradition at Notre Dame and obviously their tight end play is like no other.”
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder feels like he’s in a good position to make an impact on the field for the Irish.
“I think I fit good,” he said. “I think more of that receiving guy to create mismatches; kind of put me on the outside, put me in the slot, in line.”
Fryzel gives the Irish 20 commitments in their 2026 recruiting class. He’s excited to join the group.
“Obviously, it's huge,” he said. “On the OV, it's a very tight group.
“I think we're building something special in South Bend. I think we're coming for that number one spot in the 2026 recruiting class.”
Personally, Fryzel is excited to make a dream a reality.
“What I wanted to do since I was a little kid was play college football; to have that dream come true is like no other.”
