Trevon Alexander figured he’d be impressed with what he saw at Notre Dame when the 2018 Missouri wide receiver was correct.

“It was amazing,” the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder said of his trip to South Bend on April 2nd. “I liked the facilities. The campus was real nice. The environment was great. They made me feel comfortable there, that’s what I enjoyed the most.”

While in town, the Richmond High School product had a chance to meet with Irish wide receiver coach Del Alexander.

“He was explaining the process of what he’s looking for in a wide receiver or in an athlete, saying what areas he’s looking for and what he’s going to watch; how I react in certain situations, how I run my routes and all of that stuff,” Alexander explained.

“He said he was always looking for people to replace his wide receivers and that he’s looking for the best place. He said they’re there to win and that’s how it goes down there. I like that because I know if I do go there, I’m there to win and if someone beats me, that’s just how it is.”

A versatile weapon in high school, Alexander had more than 1,600 combines rushing and receiving yards along with 29 touchdowns last fall, but said he’s a receiver all of the way in college.

“I think my yards after catch are really good,” he said. “That’s what (Coach Alexander) said he’s looking for in a wide receiver, how many yards after catch you have, ball security, I’m pretty good at ball security, running around, velocity and speed is improving, but it can always get better.

“He said he wants to know the negatives in a player and how to fix them. When something goes bad, how do I react? Do I pick up my teammates when they’re having trouble? How do I react if I’m doing bad and my teammates are trying to help me? That’s what he’s looking for in a football player.”

The Notre Dame visit was his first and he’s still waiting on his first offer, but is receiving interest from several other programs.

“I’ve heard from Iowa State, obviously, Notre Dame, Indiana, Kansas, Mizzou, Northwest Missouri State, Purdue,” he said.

Notre Dame is the school with which he’s had the most communication.

“I’ve talked to them a lot and we communicate,” he said. “I’ve kind of been really been focusing on that college.

“(An offer from the Irish) would mean the world. It would be amazing. That’s my first choice really, that’s where I’m planning to go honestly.”
