Grayson Clary‍ took a whirlwind visit to Notre Dame earlier this month.

The 2028 Georgia quarterback flew to South Bend the first thing on Saturday, Oct. 18th to see Notre Dame play USC. By midnight, Clary and his family were in a car headed to Chicago to catch a 5 a.m. flight the next morning to be back home in time for church.

For Clary and his family, making it back to South Bend after camping this summer.

“The one big thing for us was their persistence in trying to get me out here; every week letting me know, 'Hey, we want you to come out, even if you show up a little late. It's okay,’” Clary explained.

“That was something big for us. And then also just the relationship that we made when I came out here for the Irish invasion over the summer. That was just great to be able to continue that.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder enjoyed his return to Notre Dame.

“It went really well,” he said. “I had a lot of good conversations with Coach Gino (Guidugli) and all the other coaches, so I really had a great day. The atmosphere was great and it was such a good game, so it was a great experience.”

The Rabun Gap-Noacoochee School standout was particularly impressed with the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.

“Nothing wavered when all the conditions came through,” he said. “Everything's great when it's all sunny and everything, but as soon as it got rainy and nasty out there, it seemed like everybody actually picked up instead of letting it really affect them. So it was really cool to see.”

He was also struck by the Irish’s performance during their 34-24 win over the Trojans, especially the offense.

“The offense was very good,” he said. “They were really able to run the ball. I really liked how much CJ (Carr) had to do at the line of scrimmage and to take advantage of what they were giving him and that was really the run game. I like how they're so even, where they can be really good at passing one week and then come out the next week and run for 300 yards on you.”

Clary, who has early offers from schools like Oregon, Ole Miss, Memphis and Liberty among others, also enjoyed his conversation with Guidugli.

“We were just talking about me and my school and the different things that I can do to become a better leader, which was something that we were also talking about this summer when I came out,” Clary said. “So we were just catching up, checking in. With all the rules of me being a '28 and not being able to communicate outside of face-to-face visits and things like that, it was just good to be able to see him again.

“I really feel like he's super honest. That's a big thing for me. Just knowing that somebody has the best interest for you and they're going to tell you straight up what they think about you automatically. I think that's big.”

Clary has trips to Florida State and Oregon remaining on his calendar this fall, but will keep in contact with Notre Dame.

“Definitely trying to be able to get back out there or have one of the quarterback coaches come out and see me this spring or this winter to throw and maybe advance our relationship even further to the next level.”
