Notre Dame Very High For Top 2027 CB Xavier Hasan After Third Visit
If Notre Dame was in a very good spot for Xavier Hasan coming into his return visit to South Bend this past weekend, the Irish are in a great spot coming out of it.
“It was great, honestly,” the elite 2027 North Carolina cornerback told Irish Sports Daily afterward.
Hasan was at Irish Invasion back in June and returned for the Irish’s home opener against Texas A&M in September. This weekend’s trip offered him even more insight into the school and the program.
“I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches again,” he said. “I got to see what the players thought of the school.
“The game was great and it started snowing, so that was something special. I can tell the coaches are real genuine, how much they connect with their guys and there's a big tradition there. Tradition is huge. I really like that. It feels different every time I come here. It feels more like home. I really like it, honestly.”
Hearing from the players was important to the Cardinal Gibbons High School star.
“They said it's a good school,” he said. “The beginning is usually the hardest part because just transitioning from high school to college. But it's great. If the coaches say you're a fit, you're going to be a fit here and you're going to love it.”
The coaches certainly see Hasan as a fit.
“They said that this place is special,” Hasan said of conversations with Notre Dame defensive backs coach Mike Mickens and defensive backs assistant Jevaughn Codlin.
“You can honestly tell from the game when it started snowing, how much fun they were having. The team kind of went to another level when it started snowing and they were just having more fun and they embraced me while Navy just kind of sat there and just being, I guess, cold.”
And Hasan could see how much the coaches are about their players from the way they celebrated the win together afterward.
“I can just tell they're real connected with their DBs,” he said.
Hasan released a Top 12 back in August of Notre Dame, North Carolina, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, Duke, Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, NC State, South Carolina and Tennessee. He’s made unofficial visits to Penn State, Florida State, Tennessee, South Carolina and Ohio State this fall. He’s set to be at Georgia for the Bulldogs’ game against Texas this weekend and may be at Florida later this month for the Gators’ game against Florida State.
One thing is for sure, though, he will be back in South Bend eventually.
“Just keep coming back, keep coming back, keep coming back. That's the main thing. Just need to make sure that it's right.”
