Notre Dame safety Tae Johnson will miss Saturday’s contest with Syracuse due to a hand injury, per the football program.
The Fort Wayne native has firmly established himself as one of the country’s top playmakers at the safety position, as Johnson has tallied four interceptions on the year, including last week’s pick-six against Pitt.
It’s a blow for the Irish defense as Johnson leads the defense in snaps played this season, but the Irish likely wouldn’t have needed too much from him this weekend, as Syracuse is one of the worst programs in the country.
Redshirt junior Luke Talich and graduate transfer Jalen Stroman appear to be in line for more playing time next to captain Adon Shuler at the third level. Talich has recorded 21 tackles and three interceptions in 2025, while Stroman has added 25 tackles and a sack.
