James Halter‍ remains fully locked in with Notre Dame.

The 2027 Pennsylvania offensive lineman was visited last week by offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, who stopped by Central Catholic High School and Halter’s home to check in on the Irish commit.

“It was really good,” Halter said. “We just talked for a while about the team right now and how they’re looking and how they’re feeling.”

The visit reinforced Halter’s confidence in where Notre Dame is heading.

“They’re really working hard out there.”

For Halter, the time Rudolph took to make the visit said plenty.

“It really meant a lot to me,” Halter said. “It gave me a good picture of what Notre Dame’s about, just the more I talk to him.”

The 6-foot-6, 285-pounder committed to Notre Dame on Nov. 18th, choosing the Irish over offers from programs like Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan among others. The relationship with Rudolph was central to that decision and continues to be meaningful.

“I can really tell how much he cares about you as a person,” Halter said. “Not just me, but all of the guys he coaches, and what the school is about and the culture that they set.”

The visit only strengthened Halter’s view of his future home.

“It really just cemented it,” he said.

Rudolph’s message focused on steady development as Halter prepares for his senior season.

“He just told me to keep on working, get better for this coming season,” Halter said. “Have a good season, get stronger, get faster, and just continue developing as an offensive lineman.”

Halter is entering his second year playing offensive line full-time, a transition that began last season and has boosted his confidence heading into the fall.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Halter said. “Having that experience going into the season really helps me be confident.”

Halter expects to return to South Bend in the coming months, with a junior day currently being planned.

“Right now I think they have a Junior Day scheduled. Sometime in maybe March or February we’ll be out for that.”
