Tre Segarra will make his way to South Bend later this month as Notre Dame continues building relationships with the 2027 South Carolina running back.
Segarra confirmed his plans to attend the Irish’s March 21 Junior Day as part of a spring visit schedule that will take him to several programs across the country.
The Irish first grabbed the Byrnes High School standout’s attention through their national profile and the relationships he has started building with the staff, including with head coach Marcus Freeman, running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider and Director of Recruiting Carter Auman.
“The first thing that caught my eye was the brand of Notre Dame,” Segarra told Irish Sports Daily.
“Then I got to talking with Coach Seider, Coach Freeman and Carter Auman and started building relationships with them. So I’m really excited to get out there.”
In addition to Notre Dame, Segarra also holds offers from schools like Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Stanford, Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Texas and Texas A&M among others.
Notre Dame has emphasized academics in its conversations, which will be crucial to the 5-foot-10, 197-pounder’s ultimate decision.
“It really opened my eyes to the opportunities that I could have if I decided to play at Notre Dame,” he said of the education in South Bend.
Segarra has also been encouraged by his early impressions of Seider.
“He’s cool,” Segarra said. “He’s got four running backs in the draft right now that he coached and developed. So he definitely knows what he’s talking about and he seems really intentional.”
Freeman has left a similar impression during their interactions.
“With all the fame and influence he has, he still takes time to be intentional,” Segarra said. “I was impressed by that.”
The upcoming visit will give the Duncan, S.C., native an opportunity to check out the campus environment and see how the program operates.
“Just the atmosphere of the school,” Segarra said of what he wants to see. “It’s a smaller school and I haven’t really had the chance to visit a place like that yet.”
Segarra has already begun working through several visits this spring.
“I went to Clemson and (South) Carolina, the two closer schools to start with,” he said.
Additional trips are expected throughout the spring.
“I know I’ll be at Tennessee,” he said. “I’m planning on Penn State and Miami at some point as well.”
The current plan is to move toward a summer decision after completing his spring visits.
“That’s the plan so far. Narrow it down, take officials in June and then make a decision in July.”
