Quarterback Lukas Prock will return to Notre Dame later this week as the Irish continue building relationships with one of the top signal callers in the 2028 class.
Prock confirmed plans to visit South Bend on March 20 as part of an extensive spring tour that will take him across the country.
“The relationship that I’m building with Coach (Gino) Guidugli and just the program itself, along with the rest of the coaching staff,” the 2028 New Jersey quarterback told Irish Sports Daily of why he wanted to get back to South Bend.
“I’ve been out there a few times and I love the campus and I love the coaches so far. I’m just looking forward to building that relationship.”
Prock holds early offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Virginia Tech among others.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has been encouraged by his early conversations with Guidugli.
“I think he’s straight up and I think he knows what he’s talking about,” Prock said. “I’m excited to watch him work this spring, summer and fall.”
The Hun School standout will use the upcoming visit to study how the staff works with players in person.
“How Coach Guidugli and the rest of the staff coach up their kids directly,” Prock said. “Until I fully see it in person, it’s hard for me to really know exactly what it’s like. Seeing it live will give me a better feeling.”
Prock has planned an extensive spring schedule as he continues evaluating programs.
“I’m going out to 11 different places,” Prock said. “I’m just trying to get out to as many places as I possibly can to get the best feeling I can.”
In addition to Notre Dame, he plans to visit Texas, Michigan, Auburn, Virginia, Virginia Tech, LSU, Illinois, Kentucky, Penn State and Ohio State during the spring.
The goal for the Princeton, N.J., native is to experience each campus environment firsthand before moving forward in the process.
“Just going out on campus is the best way to feel that.”
Prock understands quarterbacks often move earlier in the recruiting cycle.
“I think after this round I’ll probably start trimming it down,” Prock said. “From the coaches I’ve talked to, they would like the quarterback to be one of the first commits so they can build the class around them.”
A decision could come toward the end of this year after completing the evaluation process.
“I could maybe see myself committing late summer or fall, but I still have a long ways to go and a lot of decisions to make.”
