Terrance Grant Jr has attended Catholic schools for years, which is one of the reasons Notre Dame quickly felt like a natural fit.
The 2027 running back currently attends DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., having previously played at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.
Over time, he has become one of the more intriguing backs on Notre Dame’s 2027 recruiting board.
“I would definitely say it's an environment I would probably be most used to,” Grant told Irish Sports Daily.
“I've grown up in Catholic schools all my life. I'm very into Catholicism. The school is great and it's just the environment and people.”
Grant has built strong relationships with Irish running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider and head coach Marcus Freeman.
“They are people who I know are genuine,” he said.
Grant currently holds offers from programs such as Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Washington and Maryland among others in addition to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame’s staff has already made a strong impression on both the 6-foot, 200-pounder and his family.
“My mom actually just got a chance to meet him because she was up there at the university,” Grant said of Freeman. “I talked to him recently and he's definitely good. He has a great impression on my family also; with both my parents and myself.
“It's just really good throughout the whole coaching staff.”
Grant has taken the next tangible step in exploring the program, recently setting up an official visit to South Bend and is also hoping to visit beforehand.
“I actually just recently scheduled an official visit to come in this summer,” he said. “That is June 11th through the 14th. I'm pretty sure I'll also be making my way up there to come during spring practice.”
When he gets back to campus, Grant plans to take a deeper look at how the program operates and how players interact with the staff.
“I'm definitely going to be interested just seeing more of the school,” Grant said. “Definitely want to meet more of the people because the ones that I do know have made such a great impression on me already.
“Definitely the players, seeing the impact of the school and those people on the coaching staff and the type of kids it produces and how they work and why they're such a good team.”
Grant also has an official visit scheduled to Washington.
“I'm not sure how many officials I'll take, but my recruitment's open and I'm still scheduling those appointments and seeing where I could get to,” he said.
The plan is to work through the spring and summer visit schedule before reaching a decision.
“I plan on taking these spring visits. Then I get to my officials in the summer and then commit after the summer and go into my senior season ready to ball at the next level.”
