COMMITMENT | 2027 S Zayden Gamble Commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame has secured a big-time commitment in the 2027 recruiting class as St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) safety Zayden Gamble has committed to the Fighting Irish.
The four-star prospect has visited South Bend just once, but the time on campus was powerful.
Gamble was looking for a balance of academics and football, which he quickly found at Notre Dame.
“The academics are key there and you won't find a better duo,” Gamble said. “After history and research, it's definitely true.”
During his visit, Gamble was able to see practice and it really sold home the message from Marcus Freeman, Chris Ash and Aaron Henry as it relates to competitive spirit, but also the talent the program is stockpiling.
“It was really good,” Gamble stated. “They were really getting after it. They were competing, having fun.”
Notre Dame is no stranger to landing top safeties, as they’ve done it many times in recent years.
Gamble recorded 65 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and three interceptions in 2025 and will arrive as a high four-star prospect per the national rankings.
The Fighting Irish are also making a statement by securing Gamble’s pledge, as Notre Dame hasn’t had much success in South Florida, and this is the second safety commitment of the week, as Chaminade-Madonna Prep star John Gay III joined the Irish on Wednesday.
Notre Dame also beat out Florida, Miami and Ohio State for Gamble’s commitment, which is a statement in itself.
With Gamble’s commitment, Notre Dame is on its way to making another strong case for the nation’s top secondary group as he joins cornerback Xavier Hasan, cornerback Ace Alston and Gay in the class.
Gamble will return to South Bend on June 19th for his official visit.
