Notre Dame made a strong impression on Jackson Coleman‍ during his first visit to South Bend, and the feeling appears to be mutual.

The 2027 Colorado wide receiver made his way to campus for the Blue-Gold Game and left with the Irish firmly positioned among his top options.

“It was good for me to get out here to meet the coaches,” Coleman told Irish Sports Daily. “They definitely made an impression on me.”

The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder spent time with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, wide receivers coach Mike Brown and head coach Marcus Freeman while also getting a full tour of campus and the facilities.

“We kind of got to see everything,” he said. “They gave us a tour of the school, the facilities. I got to see the locker room in the stadium, which was really cool. I got to meet with the OC, got to meet with the receivers coach and then Coach Freeman too.”

Those conversations centered heavily on fit, something that stood out during his time with the offensive staff.

“They see me fitting as a tall, fast receiver,” he said. “They don’t really have many of those guys and they see me fitting that role.”

His meeting with Denbrock gave him a broader understanding of the scheme and how the Irish operate.

“He showed me an overview of their offense, what their offense is about, what Notre Dame is about,” Coleman said. “It was just really good to sit down and talk to him.”

Coleman also connected with Brown for the first time in person, where the focus shifted more directly to his potential role within the program.

“We talked about more of my role on the team and where I fit and what he sees in me,” he said.

The Littleton, Colo., native came away equally impressed with Freeman and the overall direction of the program.

“He’s a great leader and he’s honest, he cares,” Coleman said. “You can tell he cares for his players and he loves Notre Dame football.”

Coleman took in the Blue-Gold Game and used the experience to get a feel for the program in a live setting.

“It was good seeing all the young guys get a ton of reps and just seeing everybody play football,” he said.

Notre Dame’s message carried through the entire visit and was reinforced by how the staff treated him throughout the trip.

“I could tell I was a priority to them,” he said.

With official visits already set to Northwestern and Oregon and the possibility of more depending on his timeline, Coleman said Notre Dame has positioned itself firmly in the mix moving forward.

“They’re definitely at the top of my list with a few other schools. I’m really excited about them.”

Whether or not he adds official visits to the two he already has scheduled will depend on when he decides to commit.
