Offensive line has been the foundation of Notre Dame's recruiting and on-field success in recent years and Friday's Irish Invasion will offer several high-level prospects the opportunity to earn an offer.

James Halter‍ doesn't need to earn an offer. Heck, Halter doesn’t even need to be at Invasion.

The 2027 Notre Dame offensive line commit already has a spot in the class, an official visit scheduled later this month and a clear understanding of where he'll be playing his college football.

Yet, he'll still be working out in South Bend on Friday.

A year ago, Halter arrived on the camp circuit as a prospect who was still relatively new to the position after previously playing tight end. By the end of the summer, he had emerged as one of the fastest-rising offensive line prospects in the country and eventually committed to the Irish.

He’ll be back this weekend with the primary purpose of working with offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.

During a visit to South Bend earlier this spring, Halter spoke about how valuable it was to watch Rudolph coach in person.

"It was pretty interesting," Halter told ISD. "Seeing how he coaches, what he's told me before and then being able to see him in person actually coaching up those guys."

The Pennsylvania native has continued developing both physically and technically and Friday's camp represents another opportunity to sharpen his game before arriving in South Bend for good next year.

Tyrie Davis-Winn‍ arrives as one of the hottest offensive line prospects in the country.

The 2028 Pennsylvania standout added offers from Texas A&M, Texas, Florida, Auburn, UCLA, Wisconsin, NC State and Duke last month alone and will make his first trip to Notre Dame this weekend.

The 6-foot-8, 270-pounder has not yet received an Irish offer, but he'll have an opportunity to work directly with Rudolph and make his case in person.

"It's a big o-line school, big o-line university," Davis-Winn told ISD. "Somewhere I feel as though I could develop and learn a lot."

The relationship with Rudolph has already made a strong impression.

"He's a great guy," Davis-Winn said. "Very understandable, very relatable."

In our early conversations with Davis-Winn, he strikes us as the type of kid who would fit at Notre Dame and it wouldn’t shock us at all if he left with an offer.

Another offered prospect expected to be in attendance is JP Carrico‍.

The 2028 Kentucky offensive lineman Carrico has visited South Bend multiple times and has consistently pointed toward Notre Dame's combination of football, academics and faith as factors that appeal to him.

"The mission of the school and how it's not just about football," Carrico previously told ISD. "They want to make you a good student and they want to make you a better person as well."

The 6-foot-8 prospect also has strong connections with assistant Harris Bivin, who shares roots in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Carrico’s offer list has changed substantially since his last visit to South Bend and now includes Alabama and Ohio State in addition to Missouri, Louisville, Kentucky and Virginia Tech among others.

Hudsen Close‍ is another Kentucky offensive lineman worth monitoring.

The 2028 Taylor County standout grew up a Notre Dame fan and has already visited South Bend, where he came away impressed by both the atmosphere and the program.

"Me and my dad, we've been lifelong Notre Dame fans," Close told ISD. "For as long as I can remember, we've always been Notre Dame."

The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and East Carolina among others and would love to add Notre Dame to that list.

"Definitely one of my dreams is to get offered by them,” he told us.

For Close, Friday provides another opportunity to strengthen relationships with the Irish staff while continuing to pursue that goal.
