Colton Ott‍ arrived at Irish Invasion looking to get better.

The 2028 Colorado offensive lineman believes he accomplished exactly that.

After spending the day working with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, Ott left South Bend with several coaching points he plans to incorporate into his game and an even greater appreciation for how Rudolph teaches the position.

"I had a great time working with Joe Rudolph," Ott said afterward. "He's a great coach and the competition was great. It was a great time."

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Fairview High School standout had already been to South Bend once before, attending a game last fall, but this visit provided an opportunity to work directly with Rudolph in a camp setting.

Much of the instruction centered on fundamentals, according to Ott.

"He was always emphasizing staying low and square and being an athlete," Ott explained.

One lesson in particular stood out.

"The emphasis on low pad level and just staying low all the way through your block and not rising up," he said.

Ott believes that's something he can immediately apply when he returns to the field this Fall.

As much as anything, the camp environment provided an opportunity to compete with and against several highly-regarded prospects from around the country.

"I feel like the competition was great," Ott said. "I feel like I got a lot better. His coaching is just awesome.

"I think it was a good measuring stick. There's always some great competition, big, strong, fast guys here. I matched up well against that and I'm happy with where I'm at right now."

Ott felt he showcased one of his biggest strengths, his strength, throughout the workout.

Ott, who currently holds offers from Colorado, Purdue and Toledo, will continue his camp tour throughout the month with stops at Ohio State, Utah and Iowa.

He doesn't have a Notre Dame offer at this point, but the Irish continue to make a strong impression each time he gets to campus and he could return in the future.
