COMMITMENT | Elite 2027 DE Abraham Sesay Commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame was always the leader for 2027 Downingtown East (Pa.) defensive end Abraham Sesay and he’s now officially part of the 2027 Fighting Irish recruiting class.
The composite five-star prospect first visited in the fall, and it set a strong bar for the rest of his recruitment.
Sesay was focused on finding a program where he could succeed on and off the field and Notre Dame hit every mark.
"Just really their combination of education and football," Sesay said. "Having that Notre Dame brand and being able to play for that with a long history and a long tradition and great moral values as well. That would be a great place to be able to play."
Notre Dame beat out Duke, Florida State and LSU for the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder and Charlie Partridge was a key piece. The long-time defensive line coach has a strong reputation for development and Sesay noticed the fit during a spring visit.
“Just talking to Coach Partridge was amazing,” he stated. “He’s an amazing human overall.”
The Pennsylvania native also connected with Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, who is Notre Dame’s Director of Player Development. In fact, the two were joined at the hip during Sesay’s first visit to campus.
“It was definitely a blessing having Myron by my side,” stated Sesay. “He's a great person, all blessings to him. It was really great having another person who played football, not only there, but also played my position. It really just gave me more insight about how Notre Dame is and what they are about, especially on the defensive side of the ball.”
Sesay will join a loaded edge class with Aidan O'Neil and Jackson Vaughn already committed. There will be strong competition to get on the field, but all three commits embrace it.
As for Notre Dame’s plan, Partridge sees Sesay similar to current star Boubacar Traore.
“They just see me playing off the edge and really doing what No. 5 did and what No. 5 is going to do,” explained Sesay.
The X-factor in Sesay’s decision very well could have been academics and Notre Dame doesn’t hide behind its tougher educational demands, which the five-star appreciated.
“I love academics,” said Sesay. “Football is not forever, so just being able to go to a school that has a great academic program, as well as getting developed, is very important to me.”
