BREAKING: OL Tristen Hoge Transferring from Notre Dame
Junior offensive lineman Tristen Hoge becomes the latest to transfer from the Notre Dame program as fellow classmate Josh Barajas announced his transfer last week.
Hoge will transfer to BYU.
The 6-foot-4, 303-pounder arrived at Notre Dame as a US Army All-American and a consensus Top 100 player. Hoge won the Gatorade Player of the Year Award in 2013 and 2014 in the state of Idaho.
As a freshman, Hoge didn’t see any action and was part of the scout team in 2015. Hoge broke into the rotation in 2016 at center and guard. The Pocatello native played in six games for the Irish as a sophomore.
Hoge does leave a void at backup center and guard as he was likely headed into the season as a backup for both spots. Senior Hunter Bivin, freshmen Robert Hainsey and Aaron Banks will probably be counted on for roles in the two-deep in 2017.
Banks and Hainsey did enroll early, so they won’t be learning entirely on the fly.
