2019 Colorado QB Evans Born An ND Fan, Excited For Invasion
Ty Evans was born into Notre Dame Football, almost literally.
“The day my mom gave birth to me, she watched ‘Rudy,’” the 2019 Colorado quarterback said.
“When I was born, she said, ‘I finally have an Irish football player’ because I have two older sisters. We’re a Catholic family, so we’ve been fans of the Irish since I was little. I grew up watching them play.
“I’ve been a fan of Notre Dame since I was a little kid.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from Monument, Colo., will have the chance to perform inside Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday night, when he competes at Irish Invasion.
“Definitely just going out there and competing with all of the other guys who got invited and just showing the coaches what I’ve got,” Evans said of what he’s looking forward to doing on Saturday.
Notre Dame assistant coach Todd Lyght visited Palmer Ridge High School during the May Evaluation Period.
“He came out to see me throw about a month ago,” Evans said of Lyght. “I’ve called him about twice since then and he’s talked to my coaches a lot since then. He loves the way I throw the ball, he loves the way I was talking to my receivers and the way I lead my receivers. I just want to show them how I compete.
“My arm is definitely my strength, the velocity I have when I throw the ball. I just want to show them the personality, the kind of competitor I am.”
Evans has already taken trips to Colorado, Colorado State and Kansas State. On Thursday, he visited Northwestern and he’ll head to Arkansas after working out for the Irish.
The Razorbacks have already extended an offer to Evans along with the in-state Buffaloes and Rams and Kansas State.
