Landing an offer from Notre Dame wasn’t a major reason for Brandon Smith’s visit to South Bend this week, but that’s exactly what the 2019 Virginia defensive end got after going through a workout with the Irish on Friday.

“I got to talk face-to-face with Coach (Brian) Kelly and he told me,” the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder explained.
