2019 Shadow Creek (Texas) cornerback Jevin Murray made his way to the Midwest to visit Indiana and Notre Dame this week. The 6-foot, 170-pounder got to South Bend on Friday and took in everything he saw on campus throughout the day.

“It was a pretty good visit,” Murray told Irish Sports Daily. “I liked everything about Notre Dame. The visit was done with class, and everything I saw was amazing.”

The Texas native had a great visit to Indiana on Thursday, so expectations were high heading into the Notre Dame trip, but the Irish showed him exactly what he was looking to see.

“When I first got there, I was accompanied by Miss. Perkins and she was very nice,” stated Murray. “She was able to show me everything about Notre Dame. I saw all the Heisman winners, the amazing facilities, the weight room, and the dorms.

“I had a meeting with Coach Lyght, and it was amazing too. He gave me lots of encouraging advice and everything I need to do to better myself as a player.”

Lyght was able to not only point to specific areas Murray needed to work on, but Murray was able to embrace the advice as he was well-aware of Lyght’s background.

“He told me I needed to get in the weight room some more and some drills to work on,” explained Murray. “Coach Lyght liked that I was a contact player and he liked what he saw.

“Coach Lyght graduated in 1991 and was part of a team that went to the National Championship. He was an All-American and was a great player. He played the game just like me – he loved to hit.

“You can hear it in the advice he was telling me. He has been there and knows what it takes to be a great player.”

Murray is no stranger to visiting big-time programs or knowing what the college football life is like, as his father played running back at Baylor and had taken several unofficial visits to date. However, Murray admitted there was a different feeling on Notre Dame’s campus.

“Notre Dame has such a big name in football, and you feel the rich tradition,” Murray stated. “There are so many amazing things you can learn, and there is a history behind everything at Notre Dame.”

The Shadow Creek star is still looking for his first offer, but he's being patient with the process, and Murray is using his visits to find out what exactly he is looking for in a program.

“I am really looking at academics and a coaching style,” said Murray. “I am looking at the city and the staff too. I am taking a hard look at everything on each visit.”
