Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly liked what he has seen out of the defensive line during the first few days of pads. Saturday marked the first day of full pads, but the Irish have been in shells since Thursday.

“I thought it was physical play,” Kelly said of the defensive line. “In the spring, I thought our offensive line moved them off the ball. Our defensive line has made great strides in the weight room, and Mike Elston has done a great job with technique. We use our hands so much better.
