2020 Michigan OL Makes Third ND Visit
Last Saturday was Dallas Fincher’s third visit to Notre Dame and the 2020 Michigan offensive lineman has detected a pattern.
“I feel like Notre Dame always does the best job in terms of taking care of the recruits and doing a great job of keeping us around the players,” the 6-foot-4, 265-pound Fincher said.
His previous trips to South Bend included last year’s game against Virginia Tech and a practice this past spring before he returned for Notre Dame’s primetime game against Georgia.
“Everything went great,” Fincher said. “I loved it.
“Of course, I got to go in the locker, walk around the stadium and see some of the newest parts. The last time I was in the stadium was for the Virginia Tech, so I was finally able to see the renovations on a game day. I thought it was great. I loved it.”
The East Kentwood High School standout had been wondering what the changes would look like.
“Last year, I had always been thinking and agreeing with the fans about how Notre Dame would be with a jumbotron and the renovations,” he said. “They did a great job of still maintaining that great tradition with all of the crowd atmosphere and the Play Like A Champion Today sign and everything.”
Despite the Irish’s loss, Fincher enjoyed the game.
“I thought the game was great,” he said. “I thought they put up a great fight. Georgia was a good team. Notre Dame is definitely going to have a better season, I can tell.
“The atmosphere was great.”
The Grand Rapids native certainly noticed the large number of Georgia fans in the crowd.
“That was a little odd, but the atmosphere was great,” he acknowledged. “It was great to hear the chants and everything.”
The sophomore had a chance to speak with Notre Dame offensive analyst Jeff Quin.
“Coach Quinn was just asking me how my family was doing, how I’m doing,” Fincher explained. “He was just talking to us about how he met his wife and everything. We were just having a great time talking to him.”
Fincher is planning to head to Penn State on Saturday and has a couple other schools in mind.
“I’m for sure going to Alabama and I’m going to try to see if I can go up to Ohio State another time,” he said.
He’s still waiting on his first offer, but in addition to the schools he’s visiting, he’s also received interest from programs like Michigan, Michigan State and Bowling Green, with the latter two showing some serious interest.
Fincher is planning to return to South Bend too.
“I’m going to try to come up for another practice during the spring. I’m always around there, so I’m definitely planning on coming back.
“I could definitely see myself playing there. I’d love to play there.”
