Irish Sports Daily was on hand to see 2018 Penn (Ind.) safety Paul Moala on Friday night. It was a pretty quiet night for the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder as the Kingsmen cruised to a 35-0 win over South Bend Adams.

Moala was the deep safety as Penn ran a Cover One all night against the spread attack. The three-star prospect recorded a couple of tackles, pass breakup and had a nice kick return on the night.

The Granger native did show a quick explosion to the football and was able to cover ground well when he was tested as he showed at Irish Invasion when he earned an offer from the Irish.

Moala was the best player on the field on Friday and he let the game come to him. He showed confidence, but also awareness on a punt return when the gunner just stopped to look at the bouncing ball. Moala picked up it up and gained about 10 yards.

He is a solid tackle and missed one on the night, but also tracked the ball carrier down to make the tackle on the same play. Very fundamental player, which Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko will appreciate.

Stay tuned for a full story with quotes from Moala on his recruitment.
