Top 2020 OL Impressed With Notre Dame
With 14 offers already, Justin Rogers is sure to be a name to know on the recruiting for years to come.
The 2020 offensive lineman from Michigan already has offers from schools like Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, Kentucky, Pitt and Syracuse among others.
“It’s a blessing, but I don’t try to focus on the offers,” the Oak Park High School star said. “I’m just really trying to focus on school and football.”
But on Saturday, the focus was on Notre Dame as the 6-foot-3, 275-pound sophomore made the journey down to South Bend to see the Irish play Miami (OH).
“It was a good trip,” Rogers said. “I got to see the players walk in and stuff.
“It was a traditional thing. You could tell the crowd was just loving it.”
He also had the chance to speak with some of the coaches before the game.
“They were just saying, ‘Have a great time out there, enjoy yourself,’” said Rogers.
He was impressed with the campus and atmosphere around gameday in South Bend.
“It’s a nice campus,” he said. “You can tell they love it. Everybody loves the atmosphere.”
He was also struck by Notre Dame’s performance on the field during the 52-17 blowout win over the RedHawks.
“They played real good,” he said. “I liked their offensive line. Their offensive line really dominated the game.”
Rogers was intrigued by Notre Dame.
“I like the school,” he said. “I’ll probably try to get in contact with them.
“I’d like to learn more about the academics and try to learn the program.”
Some schools are recruiting Rogers as a guard while others see him as a tackle.
“They just like my hand placement, my footwork and they said they’ve never seen a kid work as hard as me,” he said of college scouts.
He’s already made trips to Michigan, Michigan State and Kentucky. He plans on returning to Kentucky soon and getting out to Ohio State. He said the Buckeyes and the Wildcats have been among those showing the most interest so far.
Rogers plans on majoring in Engineering and said academics will play a big role in his decision.
“Probably the relationships with the coaches and how the academics will go.”
