It’s safe to say Jimmy Christ‍ comes from a football family.

His father and brother both played big-time college football and all three of his older brothers are currently doing the same.

The 2020 Virginia offensive lineman/defensive end’s oldest brother, Mike, is a senior long snapper at Monmouth while his brother Matt is a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman at Virginia Tech and his brother Tommy is in his freshman year as a defensive lineman at Virginia.

“It’s really helped me because I’m sending out stuff every week,” the youngest Christ said of following in those kinds of footsteps. “I’ve learned from their experiences in how to get better recruited.”

The 6-foot-6, 245-pounder has early offers from Appalachian State and Virginia, which offered early in his sophomore season.

“That was really awesome,” he said. “I feel like now that I’ve got the UVA offer, it’s easier to get recruited.”

Christ admitted having Tommy in Charlottesville could help the Cavaliers’ chase of the Sterling, Va., native, but won’t sew it up.

“But then again, my older brothers they all play at different places and they could have played together, but decided they’d play at their own place because it felt more like family,” he said.

College coaches like Christ’s frame and athletic ability.

“They say I’m really long and I also move very well,” he said.

Christ, who has a sister with scholarship offers for basketball, will be at Notre Dame this weekend.

“It’s a great place,” he said of Notre Dame. “My dad played at Navy. They’ve always been pretty big rivals. They’re the number three team in the nation. They’ve always been a big program, so that really interested me.

“I want to meet the coaches and I’d like to see their stadium and see their facilities.”

He’s already made a visit to Rutgers and has one scheduled to West Virginia in a few weeks.

It’s still very early in the process, but Christ has a general idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“That I feel right there and that the coaches treat me right and that I feel like family there.”
