2019 OH DL Steven Faucheux Has Productive Trip To Notre Dame
2019 Lakota West (Ohio) defensive lineman Steven Faucheux is no stranger to Notre Dame, and he was back in South Bend on Saturday to see the Irish run away from Wake Forest.
“I enjoyed the visit and the game even though the weather wasn’t exactly enjoyable,” the 6-foot-4, 272-pounder told Irish Sports Daily.
Building relationships are something the Ohio native has put a premium on during his recruitment, and it was something Faucheux wanted to accomplish heading into this weekend’s visit.
“I met and spoke with a few coaches, but I mostly talked with coach (Mike) Elston,” stated Faucheux.”
The conversation was productive, and Elston explained where the Irish were in the recruiting process and the plan moving forward.
“He said that’s he’s had to spend a lot of time on 2018 class but is close to being able to give a lot more attention to the 2019 class.
“He is going to visit my school in the offseason and wants me to send him my basketball schedule.”
During the game, Faucheux got to spend time analyzing the Irish defensive line and the environment inside Notre Dame Stadium. If offered, Notre Dame is a place Faucheux would definitely take seriously after Saturday.
“I like the atmosphere,” stated Faucheux. “I was surprised how loud the crowd was. I think my aggressive and physical style of play would fit in well with coach Elston’s scheme.”
Faucheux holds early offers from Alabama, Florida, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Penn State, Pitt and Tennessee, but he’s focused on a few more schools too.
“I’m mainly in touch with Clemson, Michigan State and Ohio State,” explained Faucheux. “I still hear from a bunch of other Power 5 school that I haven’t gotten offers from too.
“I hope to make another visit or two this season if I can work it in around basketball.”
The decision process will be pretty simple for Faucheux. He’s looking for success on and off the field.
“I want to fit with the program,” said Faucheux. “I want to see what it can do for my development and how it prepares me for life after football.”
