Coker Not Surprised, But Impressed

Andrew Coker‍ didn’t get to see everything at Notre Dame last weekend and much of what the 2019 Texas offensive lineman did see didn’t come as a surprise, but none of that was a negative.

“I thought it was very interesting,” the 6-foot-7, 335-pound Corker said. “I liked how the people were up there. It is a lot different, but it was a good different. I liked it a lot. “

The Taylor High School standout made the trip up to South Bend despite giving Florida a verbal commitment back in June.

“The difference was that the people at Notre Dame were more interactive with me as a recruit,” he said. “They wanted to get to know stuff about me and get to know who I was.”

Coker, who also has offers from Ole Miss and Indiana, didn’t get a full tour of campus.

“I did not get to tour the campus because I showed up late because of the time change,” he said. “I got to see only the dining hall and the food court.”

He also had a chance to see what Notre Dame Stadium was all about.

“I got to see the locker room, the stadium, and I got to go into the locker room after the game and see their game day experience,” he said.

“It was what I expected because of how the people were, they were very respectable and loud when good things happened. It was a solid atmosphere.”

Coker thought the Irish did what they needed to do in their 48-37 victory over Wake Forest.

“I think that they took care of business and did what they were supposed to do,” he said. “I think offensively, if they still had (Josh) Adams still in the game even they were scoring, it would have been easier. Defensively, I know Wake Forest isn’t a big school, but if you watch them play they’re playing good football. So, I think the game went exactly how I expected it too, they played very well.”

He focused much of his attention on the offensive line and had the chance to speak with Harry Hiestand afterward.

“He told me hasn’t seen my film yet, but he would look at it and evaluate me and then get back into contact with me,” Coker explained.

He may head to LSU for the Tigers’ game against Arkansas this weekend and may return to South Bend in a few months.

“I’ll keep in contact with them and see when they can come up in the spring and when I can come back up in the spring.”
