Ovie Oghoufo‍ will be making it official on Wednesday, when the speedy 4-star linebacker officially signs with Notre Dame.

“It is a surreal moment for sure,” Oghoufo expressed. “I am excited for what the future holds and I am ready to get to work.”

Deciding to attend Notre Dame and play his college football with the Irish was not difficult for Oghoufo, especially since he knows what the degree will do for him in the future.

“Notre Dame for me, my family loved it and I feel like I can get what I need to get done both athletically and academically,” the Harrison High School standout said. “I feel like these next four years, I am going to be able to accomplish a lot and being a graduate from Notre Dame will carry me a long way.

“Also, the relationships, the consistency with the staff at Notre Dame, the way the players already brought me in even though I am not there yet. So, it was just big family environment.”

Oghoufo is only one of a deep class filled with talented prospects and he has high hopes for the future with his fellow 2018 signees.

“We are a strong class I feel, our defense is going to bring a lot to our class,” the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder said. “We just got two of the top corners to commit, we have four great linebackers committed, we also have a couple on the d-line and a top-rated safety, so we definitely bring speed and defense.

“That is definitely our strength. Then on offense, we have the top-ranked quarterback, and then we have good receivers.”

Still, Oghoufo is trying to add some other top targets to commit to the Irish and join their strong 2018 group.

“The only people we are trying to get to commit are Braden Lenzy and the corner from Washington (Kyler Gordon),” he said.

Along with his future teammates, the youngster will be making the jump from high school to college and already has the mindset and work ethic to be successful when he gets to Notre Dame.

“For me I am going there with an open mind not expecting anything just letting it all come to me, but what I have been hearing from some of the players, they’re just telling me to come in, be as humble as you can, let people help you because you’re going to need the help especially starting out young,”
said Oghoufo. “So that is what I am going to do, just ask questions.

“I am also working out right now and I am in shape so I don’t go out there and die. I am waiting for what the coaches want, some of the stuff that I have been working on during the season is still speed, strength, getting bigger, stronger, but as far as technical things I am going to wait until I get to Notre Dame.
