Chip Long texted Hudson Henry‍ to let the 2019 Arkansas tight end know he had an offer from Notre Dame, but Henry wanted it to be “more official,” so he called the Irish tight ends coach/offensive coordinator.

“I just felt really blessed just to be offered by such a prestigious school academically and athletically,” the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Henry explained.

“It’s an honor to just to be known by them. Just to be offered by them was really, really cool.”

The Little Rock native added the Irish offer to a list that already included Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Stanford and Wisconsin among others.

He’s looking forward to give Notre Dame a close look.

“I think the first step is just building that relationship up, just staying in contact,” said Henry. “I think he’s going to come down and see me in January and we’re going to talk a little bit. I’m going to plan out a lot of my visits for the spring and I definitely want to put that on my list to go to Notre Dame.

“I know they use the tight end very, very well. I just want to see the atmosphere, the locker room and how the coaches and players interact with each other, how that whole atmosphere works, just seeing the stadium, the school, how all of the different programs work, the education up there. I think it’ll be a really cool experience.”

It’s still sort of early in the process for the Pulaski Academy standout, but with prospects in the Class of 2019 being allowed to take official visits beginning in the spring, things will start moving quickly.

“I’ve only been able to visit Arkansas because it’s the easiest option to go to,” Henry said. “I definitely want to go visit other schools and keep my options open. With all of those official visits, it’ll be a lot easier to make my decision sooner.”

Henry is the younger brother of former Pulaski Academy star, Arkansas standout and current Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry.

“It’s just a really, really wonderful thing,” Hudson said of having his brother as a role model. “He’s had all of the experiences, so he’s able to mentor me and teach me the things he’s learned, the trials and errors he’s had to go to and teach me his way of being successful in college and in the NFL. It’s just really, really awesome.”

The best piece of advice his older brother has given him is “to be really tough,” according to Henry.

“Be the toughest guy you can be out there,” he continued. “When it all comes down to it, the toughest people are going to be the last ones to leave the facilities, the last ones to give up. Just being mentality tough is the most important thing.”
