Chambers Looking For Academic and Football Balance

Notre Dame has offered over 100 2019 prospects already and running back is a position that needs to be addressed in the recruiting cycle.

2019 Blessed Trinity (Ga.) running back Steele Chambers‍ had offensive coordinator Chip Long stop by his school on Tuesday and left after offering the four-star prospect.

“I was excited about the offer and look forward to learning more about the program,” Chambers told Irish Sports Daily.

The Irish are a program the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder is familiar with as he took a visit to South Bend in 2016.

“I went my sophomore year,” stated Chambers. “I went to a game, but I didn’t get to see much of the academic side of the school. I’m looking forward to making a visit, seeing more of the campus and the life of a student-athlete at Notre Dame.”

Clemson, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin have offered the Georgia native, and Chambers will now look to experience programs to find the perfect fit.

“Good balance is a big one, which means a balance between football and a great football program,” Chambers explained. “I don’t want to choose between great football or academics.

“Location and campus life will be big, as well as what life is like for a student-athlete.”

With the big-time offers, Chambers has stayed grounded throughout the process and playing other sports has helped him manage his focus on himself.

“I’m staying low key, focusing on my grades, baseball season right now, and continuing the process and taking my time to make the best decision for me,” stated Chambers. “The one thing I don’t want to do is commit then decommit.”
