2019 TX WR Rashee Rice On Notre Dame Radar
Rashee Rice already has more than a dozen scholarship offers. Notre Dame hasn’t extended one yet and it may be a bit before it does, but the 2019 Texas wideout isn’t in any hurry to pick a school and was excited to hear from Irish wide receivers coach Del Alexander recently.
Alexander let the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder know that he would be down at Richland High School in May to check in on him.
“He likes all of my traits and he sees I’m real good in school and I have what it takes to go to Notre Dame,” said Rice, who has been clocked at 4.48 in the 40-yard dash.
“My cutting, how I do in school, my grades. He’s going to talk to my coach, get to know me and see how I am as a person.”
The North Richland Hills native was surprised to hear from the Irish.
“I was real shocked,” he said. “I never thought about Notre Dame recruiting me, so it opened my eyes a lot.”
He doesn’t know a ton about Notre Dame, but is looking forward to learning more.
“I don’t know very much, but I know EQ (Equanimeous St. Brown) did really good as a receiver, I’m hoping I could do the same,” he said.
Rice said he will “for sure” look into visiting South Bend and will want to see as much of Notre Dame and the surrounding area as he can if he does.
“Everything,” he said of what he wants to see. “Even after the visit, I’d probably still go around out there.”
Rice’s current offer sheet includes schools like Texas Tech, Houston, SMU, Missouri, Northwestern and Minnesota among others.
“It’s nice,” he said of the early offers. “I’m not making any decisions anytime soon because I still have a lot more time. It’s good to know you have offers and you’re not even done with your senior year yet.”
He’s already been to Texas A&M for an unofficial visit and has a couple others on the docket.
“I’ll be going to Texas Tech soon and I’m going with my Fast Houston 7-on-7 team to visit the University of Miami, so that’ll be fun,” he said.
He’ll be looking at factors on and off the field when it comes time for him to make a decision.
“If I’m going to actually want to be there for four years, if the schooling is good if I’m not able to make it The League and if I can actually make it to The League from the program.”
