West Bloomfield High School will certainly be well-represented in South Bend this weekend for Notre Dame’s Junior Day.

The Michigan program, which made a run to the Division I state championship game this past season, will have four prospects in attendance with 2019 linebacker Lance Dixon‍, 2019 wide receiver Tre Mosley‍ (pictured above), 2020 safety Makari Paige‍ and 2020 linebacker Cornell Wheeler‍.

West Bloomfield head coach Ron Bellamy told us about Dixon last week (which you can read here) and we caught up with him again for more of his thoughts.

The first thing Bellamy pointed to with Mosley was his attention to detail.

“He’s a student of the game,” the coach said of the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder. “Tre is going to ask questions and everything you ask him to do, he’s going to do it. He’s very detailed-oriented. From a coach, that’s very important. I know that to be true because I’ve been his coach since the seventh grade. He’s also very competitive. Tre wants to win every rep whether it’s a run play in blocking or a pass play, he wants to coach the ball. As a coach, you can’t ask for much more.”

Mosley currently has offers from schools like Michigan, Boston College, Cincinnati and Minnesota among others.

“I think some people question how fast he is, but Tre had five touchdowns over 70 yards this year, so that tells you he has the ability to get open and make big plays down the field,” Bellamy said. “He’s strong. He’s a wiry kid, but he’s strong. His father is our strength coach, so he’s the son of a strength coach and he’s a gym rat. He lives in the gym.”

Paige may be one the youngsters of the group, but he too has big-time early offers from Michigan, Boston College, Minnesota, Indiana and Kentucky.

“He is a rising stud,” Bellamy said of Paige. “He’s a high-character kid. Physically, I haven’t coached anything like him. I thought Lance Dixon was the closest thing to a freak I had and Makari is right on that border. He’s 6-4, 185 pounds.

“The thing that makes him unique is there were times this year when we played him at the safety position, moved him down to outside backer and moved him to defensive end. He plays those positions and he looks natural at all three.”

Wheeler too has already drawn serious interest already. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder already has offers from Michigan, Syracuse and Toledo.

Bellamy encourages his younger players to embrace the recruiting process when given the chance and tries to use it to the advantage of the program.

“The one thing I do tell our kids is, ‘For you young guys, these aren’t committable offers. You still have to produce in order to receive these offers,’” Bellamy explained. “That’s the biggest thing for our kids to understand and keep them grounded.

“I rely on our upperclassmen like Lance and Tre to make sure these young kids are grinding and doing what’s expected of them.”

Bellamy said both Mosley and Paige are “absolutely” interested in Notre Dame.

“Like the same thing I said about Lance. Out here in the Midwest, it’s Notre Dame. And across the country, Notre Dame is a very prestigious school. It’s an attention-grabber when your school is mentioned in the same sentence as Notre Dame.”
