2020 WR Jordan Johnson Impressed With Notre Dame
2020 DeSmet Jesuit (Mo.) receiver Jordan Johnson earned an offer from Notre Dame on January 22nd, and the four-star prospect made his way to South Bend to take in Junior Day on Saturday.
“It was a great visit,” Johnson told Irish Sports Daily. “It was nice to meet the coaches and see what they do with their receivers. It was great to see the facilities and the new indoor facility.”
The new indoor facility caught the attention of the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder in a positive way.
“I thought the new facility was amazing,” stated Johnson. “The way they are keeping in the Notre Dame-style with the brick is really dope to me.”
The schedule on Junior Day was a busy one, but the organization and the amount of information provided to Johnson and his mother was more than worth the trip from St. Louis.
“Notre Dame was really nice,” Johns explained. “It was a lot more organized than other visits I’ve been on. The coaches were a lot more interactive with everyone. The hospitality was nice.
“The staff are all cool guys. They get straight to it. You can tell it’s about business and they all want to win a National Championship.”
Receivers coach Del Alexander made a big impression on Johnson, and the foundation of a good relationship was started on the visit.
“He was a cool guy,” stated Johnson. “He gave me a lot of information I needed to know, and it really helped me out.”
Johnson also got to meet with head coach Brian Kelly.
“He’s a cool dude and knows what he’s doing,” Johnson said. “He’s a straightforward guy and knows what he wants to get done. I feel like whatever he wants to get done, he’s going to get it done.”
In addition to Notre Dame, Johnson holds offers from Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa State, Kentucky and Nebraska. The Razorbacks and new head coach Chad Morris have made Johnson an early priority.
“Arkansas is recruiting me the hardest,” Johnson stated. “It’s pretty cool. All the coaches are awesome. They make you feel at home. It’s a very positive energy and the staff is confident in Coach Morris.”
Arkansas and Notre Dame have made an impression, and both will get return visits in the coming weeks.
“This will be my last visit for a while,” said Johnson. “I might get to some spring games. I’m planning to get out to Arkansas for the spring game and then come back to Notre Dame for the spring game.”
