Interest is the first step in creating a relationship between a player and a coaching staff. In the early staging of building a lasting relationship with the Notre Dame coaching staff, Nick Jackson certainly has the interest.

“A lot of interest,” the 2019 Georgia linebacker said of his feelings on Notre Dame. “The combination of academics and football, you can’t get better. Great networking and great history.”

The Lovett High School standout has been in contact with Director of Football Recruiting Aaryn Kearney and other staff members.

“Basically, they just talked about what my grades look like and talked about how I’m doing and getting to know each other a little bit,” explained Jackson.

Knowledge about the Notre Dame’s rich history is one thing for the youngster, but upon creating a beginning stage relationship with the Notre Dame staff, he wants to experience the atmosphere in South Bend himself.

He wants to see the things his close friend 2019 Irish commit KJ Wallace has been talking about.

“KJ has said nothing but great things about it,” He loves it up there.”

A date just needs to be agreed upon.

“I’ll be at Notre Dame for sure,” the speedy athlete expressed with confidence. “If they give me a date to be up there, I’ll be there.

“I just want to see a practice, get to meet the coaches and get a feel for the environment,” Jackson stated.

Size and speed is the obvious reason why the 6-foot-2, 219-pounder has accumulated dozens of FBS offers from schools like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Boston College, Rutgers, Kentucky, Minnesota, NC State and Virginia among others, but there is more to love about the youngster for college coaches.

“They really like how versatile I am,” Jackson said. “They say I can play a number of positions both on defense and on offense because of my athleticism.”

His versatility is making it hard for coaches to zero in on what position they want him to play at the next level.

“Inside linebacker, outside linebacker, safety. I even have a couple offers at receivers,”

The interest brewing around the youngster has him humbled.

“It’s a blessing,” Jackson said in a loss of words. “I just feel blessed to be in my position. I really have no words for it, it’s just a dream come true. I never thought I would be in this position.”

Jackson has been busy visiting other schools showing interest, checking out Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Vanderbilt among others.

“They’ve all been great so far,” he said. “I don’t really have a favorite at the moment.”

Going into his final football season has forced some thinking about the important factors that will go into his final decision.

“Academics first because football is going to end really early for everyone,” he said “I want to feel like I’m at a place where I can call home and be happy to wake up there every morning. I want a good relationship with my coaches and the players where we can get after each other on the field and then love each other off the field. I just want to make sure we have great networking after college so we have a better chance of pursuing whatever we want to pursue after football is finished.”

Jackson aims to make his decision before the start of his senior season, but won’t do it until he knows for sure.

“I want to commit before my season starts, but at the same time, I don’t want to rush it and commit when I’m not ready.”
