Recapping Wednesday's Offer Spree
It was a busy Wednesday as Notre Dame offered five prospects. The 2019 board expanded by two names, while the 2020 board grew by three.
Here's a quick run down to catch you up.
2019
WR – Jonathan Mingo – Brandon (Miss.)
Offers: Notre Dame, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss
ISD Ranking: 90 – Four-Star
Jamie Uyeyama’s Thoughts: Mingo has good vision and is slippery in the open field. He's not the best route runner right now and needs to come back to the ball, but he has good size and looks college ready. Mingo isn't a burner, but he makes up for it by tracking the ball well and being physical in the run game.
DE – Isaac Townsend – Ralston Valley Senior (Colo.)
Jamie Uyeyama’s Thoughts: Another 6-foot-7 guy that plays basketball. Notre Dame missed on Adam Berghorst and found another long athlete. He does have a good first step but plays high. The next step in his game will be developing hands and moves.
Offers: Notre Dame, Boise State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, Washington State and Wyoming
ISD Ranking: 88 – Three-Star
2020
RB – Marshawn Lloyd – DeMatha Catholic (Md.)
Offers: Notre Dame, Boston College, Florida, Georgia, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, USC and Virginia Tech
ISD Ranking: 92 – Four-Star
Jamie Uyeyama’s Thoughts: Lloyd can explode and run away from a defense. He flashes great feet, vision and the ability to break tackles. Not a ton of film.
WR – Elijah Canion – Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla.)
Offers: Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Lehigh, Syracuse, UAB and Wagner
ISD Ranking: 89 - Three-Star
Jamie Uyeyama’s Thoughts: Smooth feet coming out of his breaks and a willing run blocker. Not a lot of film right now.
ATH – Chris Tyree – Thomas Dale (Va.)
Offers: Notre Dame, Boston College, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Marshall, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pitt, Temple, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia
ISD Ranking: 95 - Four-Star
Jamie Uyeyama’s Thoughts: A dynamic speed back and a threat in the return game. He can make one cut and explode with good pad level. Stronger than most his size. Tavon Austin is a good comparison as he can play running back and move out to the slot.
