2021 might seem far off, but it’s never too early to recruit top national talent, and Notre Dame is doing just that as 2021 Pleasant Grove (Texas) defensive end Landon Jackson‍ will visit South Bend in June.

“I’m going on a visit to Arkansas next weekend,” Jackson stated. “I’m going to Notre Dame’s camp on June 22nd.”

Jackson already has incredible size for a player his age at 6-foot-5, 223 pounds, but he has the athleticism to match. Regional programs are already offering, and he’s not a secret outside of Big 12 country.

“I received a few more from Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas, Southern Miss, Texas State and Tulsa,” Jackson said. “I have Texas talking to me too.”

The Pleasant Grove star did visit Austin earlier this spring and left impressed with the Longhorns.

“It was a pretty good trip,” recalled Jackson. “It was a nice campus and feel. It was nice to be there.”

Jackson has ties to Texas A&M but admitted Texas offer would be big for him.

“It’d mean a lot to me,” said Jackson. “I’ve been watching Texas ever since I was a young. It’s a good school, and it’d be fun to get one from them.”

“I like A&M. My main schools are Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M.”

Our friend, Justin Wells, from InsideTexas.com, had this to say about Jackson after watching him camp over the weekend.

“He helped Pleasant Grove to its 3A DII state championship in December,” stated Wells. “At 6-foot-5, 223 pounds, he's got the ideal frame, shoulders, and athleticism to dominate at the D1 level. His father, who is 6-foot-8, played college basketball at Texas A&M and professionally overseas for five years, while his mother stands 6-foot. A lot of recruitniks have him destined for College Station, but he says that's not the case.

“I can see a Texas offer in his future, but there's no rush. He still hasn't played a sophomore snap.”

While it seems he’s focused on Texas and Texas A&M, it’s an excellent opportunity for Notre Dame to get him on campus and for Mike Elston to impress him. Elston has done pretty well with Texas defensive linemen recently, and Jackson’s name will be one to keep an eye on over the next few years.
