The 2020 ISD Fab 50

The other day member of ISD mentioned in a post on the football board that he was (pleasantly) surprised that Notre Dame was already recruiting the 2020 class. I guess he hadn't been following recruiting that closely in 2018 because the Notre Dame staff has been sending out offers in the 2020 cycle for quite awhile.

Notre Dame has sent out 65 to the class of 2020 and that's before they've even started camp for their junior seasons. The staff has already received three commitments as well and those players are solid foundational pieces to kick things off.

With the speed of recruiting kicked into overdrive, the evaluation of prospects is happening earlier than ever before. Coaching staffs have had to adapt and we at ISD have had to adapt too. That’s why we’re coming out with the initial ISD Fab 50 for 2020 much earlier than we have normally done with previous classes.

There is going to significant changes between now and the time the final ISD Fab 50 for 2020 is released prior to the February signing day that year. There will be a lot more film to watch, more camps to attend, and more players who will emerge that may not even be on the radar as top prospects at this current time. In saying that, this will hopefully give an idea of the elite recruits in the nation.

Some are Irish targets already. Some will be. And a few are already off the board.

Without further ado, here’s the initial 50 with some additional information below.

The 2020 ISD Fab 50

- Notre Dame has offered only 24 of the 50 prospects on the list. That number will probably go up, but it’s doubtful they ever come close to offering every player out of this group.

- As has been the trend, it’s not a Midwest friendly list. The two Illinois players who made it, running back/wide receiver AJ Henning‍ and defensive lineman Rylie Mills‍, are top priorities for the Irish in this class.

- Those two along with offensive tackle Turner Corcoran‍ would be in the “best bets” category to eventually commit to Notre Dame, but it’s not going to be easy to land any of those players.

- While no Notre Dame commitments made the list, I had tight end Michael Mayer‍ ranked 59th and quarterback Drew Pyne‍ ranked 64th. Pyne’s cousin, offensive tackle target Kevin Pyne‍, I had 51st.

- The deepest positions on the list are the offensive line with 10 prospects total and defensive end with the same number.
