Deion Colzie‍ tried to visit Notre Dame a couple times this summer, but it didn’t work out.

The 2021 Georgia wide receiver plans to change that in the coming weeks.

“They sent me an e-mail a couple days ago inviting me on an unofficial to come to any games I want to for the season,” Colzie explained.

“I know for sure that I’m going to be attending the Sept. 8th one. I’ll be coming to that one.”

Colzie said it felt good to know he was still on Notre Dame’s radar.

“College coaches are really just starting to look into me,” he said. “I was grateful that they were still looking into me even though I didn’t attend the camp this summer.”

The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder from Athens Academy is looking forward to seeing the Irish face off against Ball State in South Bend.

“Honestly, just seeing how the program is,” he said of what he’s looking forward to. “I really don’t know too much about it, but I know it’s a top school and I’m pretty interested in going there. I just want to see how everything is.”

Colzie has an early offer from Tennessee.

“For my first one, that’s a great one,” he said. “I felt pretty good about that one.”

Michigan and Texas staff members have been by his school to speak with his coaches about him while Florida Atlantic is also showing interest.

“Most of them see my big frame, a taller guy with long arms, speed, agility,” said Colzie, who has been clocked at 4.48 in the 40-yard dash.

“I can line up in the backfield and catch a toss, I can go out wide and catch a deep ball. I’m very versatile for being 6-4.”

He has a couple other visits in mind this fall.

“I definitely want to get to UGA since I go to school in Athens and I’m highly influenced by them,” he said. “I’m looking forward to going to UVA too.”

But Colzie is far away from making any sort of decisions and hasn’t even thought about what factors will be most important when he does.

“Honestly, no, not at all. I’m just a sophomore, so the colleges are just starting to roll in. I’m still keeping my options open until senior year.”
