2020 MI DE Bryce Mostella Ready For Notre Dame Return
After an active spring and summer, Bryce Mostella will start the “fall” portion of the recruiting process at Notre Dame.
The 2020 Michigan defensive end saw his profile get a major boost with offers from Michigan, Penn State, Iowa, Boston College, Kentucky and Minnesota during the spring before an offer from Ohio State in the middle of the summer.
“It’s crazy,” the 6-foot-6, 235-pounder said. “It’s a very surreal feeling that this actually happening to me because it’s been my dream since I was a little kid.”
The East Kentwood standout has visited South Bend three times already and is returning for the Irish’s opener against Michigan on Saturday night.
“I’m very excited,” Mostella explained. “Just to see all of the coaches again, of course see the facility and get the nice campus atmosphere that I know they have.”
He hasn’t had extensive contact with the coaching staff since his last visit, but he’s hoping that’ll change this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to establishing that as well,” he said.
Mostella pointed to “the atmosphere” as to what has him so interested in Notre Dame.
“Those are some of the nicest fans you’ll ever meet,” he said. “Of course, the academics are amazing and then there’s great football. I don’t see what else someone could want.”
He expects the atmosphere to go up notch given the hoopla surrounding the opener.
“I think the crowd will be even crazier than usual,” he said.
Mostella will be joined on the visit by his good friend and 2020 classmate Dallas Fincher, an offensive lineman who is also receiving major college interest.
“It’s awesome,” Mostella said of going through the process with Fincher. “There’s always stories that we both have, where we have inside jokes about what’s happening.
“It’s a great to know that whatever is happening to you is happening to your buddy. You can talk to each other about how you’re feeling about certain schools and whatnot.”
Going to college together would be “icing on the cake,” according to Mostella, but won’t be an “extremely high priority.”
He’s planning to get to Northwestern, Michigan and Ohio State for games later in the fall, but for now, his focus will be on this weekend’s trip to Notre Dame.
If the Irish ever decide to offer, it’d have a major impact on Mostella.
“That’d be huge definitely. They would definitely jump near the top of the list.”
