2020 MI OL Dallas Fincher Takes In Notre Dame Again
Watching Notre Dame and Michigan reignite their rivalry was one of the highlights of the trip for Dallas Fincher for sure, but the highlight for the 2020 Michigan offensive lineman came before the game.
“What was really cool was getting to speak with Justin Tuck and some of the other alumni there,” Fincher explained. “My favorite part was obviously seeing the alumni like Justin Tuck, DeShone Kizer and Quenton Nelson. It was really cool to see those guys and what they think about Notre Dame. You can get a really accurate view of why they wanted to go there. That’s always really cool to see.”
Fincher appreciated their reasonings for why they picked Notre Dame and why they’re convinced it was the right choice today.
“Probably atmosphere and the school itself; the big reaction you get from being able to say you have a degree from Notre Dame,” recalled Fincher. “Of course, it’s a 40-year decision, how it’s a life decision, how it changes you and how it really grows you as a man. They said how great the strength coach was too.”
Fincher was joined on the trip by his East Kentwood High School classmate, 2020 defensive end Bryce Mostella.
“We got to see the tradition of course,” said Fincher. “We got to get around the atmosphere.
“It went well. It went very good.”
Fincher certainly enjoyed watching the Irish’s 24-17 victory over the Wolverines.
“The game was great,” the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder said. “Of course, with Michigan coming in, it was a big-time rivalry getting revamped. It was live. It was really great. I thought Notre Dame could probably beat Michigan in all aspects of the game honestly. I thought it was great for both teams being able to bring that rivalry back and give them both that national look because that’s a huge rivalry. It goes way back.”
Fincher also had a chance to speak with Notre Dame offensive line coach Jeff Quinn.
“He said I’ve come a long way and how I’m still growing physically and strength-wise and stuff,” Fincher recalled. “He said he was just happy to see me.”
Fincher has a lengthy offer list that includes schools like Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Pitt, Purdue, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota and Syracuse among many others. There was no talk about a potential offer from the Irish on Saturday, but that didn’t worry Fincher.
“It doesn’t bother me at all,” he said. “Of course, you’re going to focus on the schools that have already offered a little bit more, but it doesn’t bother me at all.”
And he’s still looking forward to remaining in contact with the Irish moving forward.
“Probably just go to a couple more games and see how comfortable I feel on campus.”
