Elite 2027 DE David Jacobs Jr. Set for First Visit to Notre Dame
2027 Blessed Trinity Catholic (Ga.) defensive end David Jacobs Jr. is one of the most coveted prospects in the entire country and will make his first visit to Notre Dame on March 22nd.
Notre Dame hopes it will be the first of many trips for Jacobs and his brother, Dawson Jacobs, who is a 2028 defensive line prospect.
“I wanted to see a different place,” stated Jacobs. “I’ve never been up there, so I definitely wanted to see it.”
Jacobs has started to develop a relationship with Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive analyst Nick Sebastion, who works with the Irish defensive line.
“It’s going well,” said Jacobs. “I’ve talked to Sebas. It’s going well and I enjoy talking with Notre Dame.”
Sebastian has taken on a significant role on the recruiting trail, including going on the road in the Atlanta area for multiple days in January.
Jacobs and other recruits have spoken highly of Sebastian recently and it starts with his personality.
“He’s a funny guy,” Jacobs stated. “He’s a good guy to talk to. It’s easy to talk football with him. Just a great guy.”
The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder now holds over 30 offers coast-to-coast. It’s what happens when a player makes 116 tackles and 11 sacks as a sophomore. But Jacobs isn’t letting the attention or coaches stopping by his high school get to him.
“It’s a blessing,” Jacobs said. “You can’t look at all of it. You just have to keep working.”
Jacobs comes from a football family. His father, David, starred at Georgia before a stroke ended his career. The elder Jacobs hasn’t let that slow him down from coaching his sons as there is an emphasis every day to improve.
“Every second,” laughed Jacobs when asked if his dad still coaches him up. “Every day. It’s a daily thing where we just talk.
“I’m definitely focusing on my get-off. I’m working on getting the ball out when I make a sack.”
In addition to his father, Jacobs has several Blessed Trinity alumni checking on him frequently, including former Notre Dame linebacker JD Bertrand.
Bertrand, who plays for the Falcons, has made sure to tell Jacobs about Notre Dame. It doesn’t stop there as former Irish defensive end Khalid Kareem also has a relationship with Jacobs.
“I’ve talked to JD,” said Jacobs. “I saw him like two weeks ago. He told me Notre Dame is the place to be. He loved it up there. I have to go up there. That’s one of the reasons I’m going up there because he said he loved it so much.”
