2021 Diamond Ranch (Cali.) receiver Cristian Dixon‍ made his way to South Bend for the Florida State game and then spent the next two days around the Notre Dame program.

Dixon was able to meet receivers coach Del Alexander to get a feel for his coaching style but also to learn about Notre Dame’s program and academics.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder was challenged by Alexander to figure out what he could bring to Notre Dame and left without an offer, but on Tuesday, Dixon picked up his offer from the Irish.

“He told my coach because they aren’t allowed to see sophomores per NCAA rules, so my coach told me they had offered today,” explained Dixon. “It was a really good feeling, and I was definitely excited. It’s amazing to have an offer from Notre Dame because it’s a place I could see myself going.”

Dixon holds the Irish in high regard and had a chance to see them play this past Saturday at USC to complete a perfect season.

“I was definitely surprised it was a close game because they had just whipped on Syracuse and USC had been playing the way they were playing,” stated Dixon. “I thought Notre Dame was going to come in and dominate. They are human. It wasn’t expected, but it happens.”

Don’t think Dixon was disappointed with the Irish as he was able to see some of the things Alexander spoke with him about happen on the field.

“I was watching for certain people and things,” said Dixon. “Coach Alexander and I watched some film on my visit, so I was watching for the big-time receivers to make plays against USC. There were definitely some great catches made.”

Notre Dame features two big receivers, which is plus as Dixon is a big receiver, so seeing Miles Boykin and Chase Claypool produce was a huge positive for the Irish.

“It’s cool to see big guys getting the love and making plays,” laughed Dixon. “It’s cool to see them make the plays they do but also share the ball.”

Dixon also saw the will to make plays despite not getting the ball as Boykin laid a devastating block to free up Tony Jones Jr. for a score to put the game on ice.

“That’s a team player right there,” stated Dixon. “He didn’t use too much anger to get a flag, but he made a textbook block. It showed he wasn’t soft and he was willing to go the extra mile for his teammates.”

As for his upcoming schedule, Dixon wants to visit LSU and Oklahoma, but he also has a date circled to get back to Notre Dame.

“I’m planning to be out for Notre Dame’s spring game,” said Dixon. “I want to see how they practice and prep for the season. Preparation is key, so I want to see how they prepared to dominate November.”
