Hawaii has been very kind to Notre Dame on the recruiting trail in the past and continued on Thursday as 2020 St. Louis (Hawaii) defensive end Jordan Botelho‍ has committed to the Irish.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder was in South Bend last weekend for an official visit and it became apparent Notre Dame was the team to beat after experiencing everything the school had to offer, including the tradition.

“The tradition at Notre Dame is so strong,” stated Botelho. “It’s special.”

The four-star prospect has also looking for a balance between academics and football, which he found and was impressed with the people around Notre Dame as he felt he would be able to succeed off the field.

“It was great to meet with Sarg (Adam Sargent),” Botelho stated. “He’s a good guy. I know he’ll definitely keep me in check and make sure my grades are all good.”

When it comes to his recruitment, Brian Polian and Mike Elston knocked it out of the park. Polian was able to develop a strong relationship with the explosive defensive end and then Elston was able to show him how he would be used in Clark Lea’s scheme.

“Coach Elston showed me clips of me and then his players doing the same thing,” explained Botelho. “It got me excited to see they are doing the same thing. I have to work hard.

“Coach Polian is a great guy,” said Botelho. “He has taken good care of me and I’m thankful for that.”
