Kevin Bauman‍ has been committed to Notre Dame for almost a year now and not only does the 2020 New Jersey tight end remain confident in that decision, after a return visit to South Bend earlier this month, he’s even more confident.

“It was awesome,” Bauman said. “It gets better every time.

“The more I go, the more my family goes, the more you realize what they have to offer and the more comfortable you get and the more I see myself there and see myself living that daily life…and have constant reassurance that this is the place.”

Bauman had another chance to get around the Notre Dame coaches and hear their messages in person.

“Just keep working hard, keep getting faster, keep staying flexible and getting more flexible and explosive,” Bauman said of those messages. “They’re pumped to get us out there in a year. It’s just real exciting not only football-wise, but daily life, academics, spiritually.”

He also had the opportunity to hang out with future and current Notre Dame players.

“(2020 tight end commit) Mike Mayer was there, so we got to hang out all day,” Bauman explained. “(2020 defensive tackle commit) Aidan (Keanaaina) was there, so we got to hang out all day too.

“I got to hang around Cole (Kmet), Brock (Wright), Tommy (Tremble) and George (Takacs) around practice and everything. I talked to them about some things and see how they work and what they do throughout the day. Getting to talk to some of the other recruits on campus and hopefully impact their decision in a positive way.”

The Red Bank Catholic standout was also able to meet with 2020 wide receiver Jordan Johnson, who was a target at the time, but a commit by the end of the weekend.

“I introduced myself and everything before he committed, said Bauman. “On the way back to Chicago, I saw that he committed. It was awesome. I was so pumped up.”

Bauman believes the current 2020 class is “incredible.”

“I think we’re off to a strong start, but it’s great defensively and offensively already. Being an offensive guy, I think this offensive class is already at an elite level and it’s just going to keep growing, the same with the defense.”
