In town for the Irish’s Sunday Night Lights Camp, Kamren Blanton‍ got a chance to show the Notre Dame staff what he could do on the field and the 2021 California cornerback got a peek at what Notre Dame is like.

“The camp went real good,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder said. “I learned a lot. It was a great experience. I saw the campus and took a little tour of the football facility, got to see the stadium, which looked real nice. I feel like I got better through the competition.”

He was impressed with what he saw.

“It looked really nice,” he said of The Gug. “It was real big. Everybody was real friendly and everything. I liked it. It was real different from Cali.”

The Long Beach Poly standout felt like he did well during the camp portion of the trip.

“I feel like I did really good in the one-on-ones,” he said. “I was real dominant and real physical. I didn’t give up any catches and I feel like I did good with that.

“The coaches were really impressed with me. They were talking with me, so hopefully, in the future, they might throw an offer my way…That would be a real big time offer. It’s a big school and they’re really known for their football. I watch a lot of their games, so that would be a big-time offer because of their academics and athletics.”

Blanton spent time with defensive backs assistant coach Chris O’Leary and wide receivers coach Del Alexander. The coaches invited him back to South Bend for a game this fall and he said it would “more than likely be for the USC game.”

Blanton already has offers from Arizona State and Utah State.

“It’s a good feeling,” he said of the early offers. “I’m just real hungry for more and to keep working.”

He said coaches like his aggression.

“I’m like one of the most dominant people on the field and I’m real fast,” said Blanton, who added that he has been clocked at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. “I’m like an overall lockdown corner. I play multiple positions as well; nickel, safety, corner and receiver. I have a lot of versatility.”

He didn’t work out at receiver on Sunday, but will play some offense for Long Beach Poly this fall.

He’s looking into hitting camps at USC and Oregon later this month.

Blanton knows what he’ll be looking for when choosing a school in the end.

“Academics and where I feel most at home.”
