Chase Harrison‍ found himself in a rare situation last fall as he became the starting quarterback at Centerville (Ohio) last fall as a freshman. The Ohio powerhouse hasn’t had many freshman start varsity, but the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder proved he could play as he threw for 1,649 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games.

The 2022 quarterback camped at Notre Dame last Sunday and left impressed.

“It was beautiful,” Harrison told Irish Sports Daily. “Notre Dame has a super nice campus. It has amazing academics and football.”

The camp was a chance for Harrison to measure himself against other quarterbacks, who were mostly older, but also to get coached by Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Tom Rees.

“It was nice to compete with other quarterbacks and to get coached by Coach Rees was awesome,” stated Harrison. “It was a great group of guys.”

Rees equally impressed Harrison as the Ohio native was able to get a feel for him on a personal level and as a coach.

“He seemed like a really cool guy,” Harrison explained. “He is a guy who will get on you, but will show you love at the same time. He’s a fair guy. He’s funny and I loved being around him.”

Harrison is well-aware of Rees’ background and knows it could be a benefit him if he strapped up for the Irish.

“It helps and plays a role in your decision because you know he has experience,” said Harrison. “You know you can listen and talk to him about it. He just knows what you are going through.”

Notre Dame’s camp was just the start of an aggressive visit schedule over the next month for Harrison as he’ll hit up several Midwest powerhouses in the next few weeks.

“I will be going to Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Vanderbilt,” Harrison stated.

Centerville has a long history of producing D1 talent and Ohio State has benefited from it, but Harrison admitted he didn’t grow up a fan of the Buckeyes.

“I have always been an Oregon fan,” Harrison said. “I saw Marcus Mariota play in the National Championship, I have been a fan ever since.”

As far as Notre Dame, Harrison, who holds a 4.2 GPA, would give the Irish a hard look as he knows it would open the door to many opportunities.

“If Notre Dame offered, I would be very blessed and it would change my recruitment,” said Harrison. “Notre Dame has great academics and is a prestigious school.”
