2021 LB Damon Ollison Hitting Up Notre Dame On Friday
Damon Ollison II won’t get the chance to show the Notre Dame staff exactly what he can do this month, but the 2021 Ohio linebacker will get the chance to see what Notre Dame is all about.
“I’ve been talking to them a little bit,” the 6-foot, 215-pounder tells Irish Sports Daily. “They wanted me to get down to some camps, but with my summer, I haven’t been able to do it. But I will make sure to get down there for a visit. I’ll be down there on June 14th.
“I really want to walk around the campus, see if it fits me. I doubt I’ll be able to see some football, but I want to see what they have to offer, especially academically and how it could better me.”
Ollison, who has three offers at this point, has a positive initial impression of the Irish.
“I really do like the education they have,” he says. “I know they’re one of the top schools for education and the tradition and past they have.”
He’s been in touch with Notre Dame graduate assistant Nick Lezysnki.
“He talked to me about the football team and about how they’re rebuilding,” Ollison says. “He talked to me and said they had a lot of interest in me and that I was one of the top athletes they’re looking at in 2021 and how they wanted to see me and evaluate me on the field. That’s when I made the plans to get down there on the 14th.
“They’re actually doing the camp the day after I visit and I won’t be in town for that.”
Ollison says he was excited to hear the Irish had interest in him.
“Right now, I come from a Catholic school at Archbishop Hoban,” he adds. “Coming from a Catholic school and a Catholic background, it’s like, ‘Wow, me and this school have similarities,’ so I would kind of know what to expect.”
His offer sheet currently includes Michigan, Arkansas and Rutgers.
“It basically lets me know I’m one of the great athletes in the country, but it also pushes you harder because you know you’ve got people chasing behind you and you want to be the best they offered,” he says.
Ollison took a visit to Michigan a couple of weeks ago – “It was a great experience,” he says – and has plans to get to Wisconsin as well.
Ollison will be looking for the best college overall when it’s comes time to choose.
“Where I fit in academically and athletically, what school best fits me.”
