2021 OL Commit Greg Crippen Enjoys Notre Dame Return
Irish Invasion is typically an event that features skill position players, which is why Notre Dame typically holds a Lineman’s Challenge Camp a week later.
But for 2021 Irish offensive line commit Greg Crippen, Irish Invasion provided a sneak peek at what his future holds.
The IMG Academy standout was one of only two offensive lineman who signed up for this year’s Invasion earlier this month, which allowed him plenty of time to work with offensive line coach Jeff Quinn.
“It was a great day,” said Crippen. “Just working with Coach Quinn was a great experience.”
Quinn brought out his four freshman offensive linemen – Quinn Carroll, Zeke Correll, Andrew Kristofic and John Olmstead – to help him with the camp as they provided examples of each drill.
“It was great just learning what they do,” Crippen said. “It was a great experience being a rising junior. It was awesome.
“They’re great players. They seem to be really good with each other, friendly and all of that. It seems like a good group.”
Crippen appreciated the pointers from Quinn.
“For me, it was just the little stuff to becoming a little quicker and that’s just having a better base,” he said. “That’s some of the stuff I heard from him to work on, so now I just go back and work on those things.”
He also enjoyed Quinn’s coaching style.
“It was good,” said Crippen. “I liked how he was really direct about what he wanted you to do, but also made sure he coached you up afterward. Obviously, he’s going to make sure you get it right, which is good.”
Crippen, who announced his commitment to the Irish back in March was making his first trip back to South Bend since.
“I got there Saturday and got to hang out with Coach Quinn a little. We were just talking, so that was great. It was great. I just feel more comfortable being there too.”
