Wallace "Loves" First Visit To ND
Caedan Wallace was looking forward to his first out of state college visit and the 2019 New Jersey offensive tackle wasn’t disappointed.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder from The Hun School made the trip to the East Coast to the Midwest to check out Notre Dame, but not before a stop in Chicago.
“We got into Chicago on Friday,” Wallace said. “We saw the Bean, got some deep dish, regular Chicago things. Saturday, we went down to South Bend. I saw the campus, did a few tours. I saw the big things. It was just a good time in general.”
The talented sophomore was impressed with his time in South Bend.
“I liked it,” he said. “I loved the campus. I had a great time.”
He also liked the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium for the Irish’s game against Virginia Tech.
“It was very lively,” said Wallace. “There were a lot of fans. I think the stadium holds like 80,000 fans. There was a lot of people there. Everyone was cheerful.”
He saw some good things from the Irish despite blowing a 17-0 lead and losing to the Hokies’ in the last home game of the season.
“I think they played well,” he said. “They started off with a bang and they fought.”
While on campus, Wallace had a chance to meet Notre Dame assistant coach Scott Booker.
“He’s their recruiting coach for New Jersey,” he said. “He just wanted to exchange information so he could reach out to me.”
Wallace is looking forward to remaining in contact with the Irish.
“I’d like to stay in touch with the coaches and stuff like that, maybe go on an unofficial next year,” he said.
Wallace doesn’t have any offers yet, but has been receiving early interest from schools like Rutgers, Temple and Michigan State in addition to Notre Dame.
It’s safe to say the Irish made a seriously positive first impression.
“I loved it.”
