The Mayor Returns to Notre Dame
Notre Dame hosted its first Junior Day of 2020 on Saturday and it comes as little surprise 2021 offensive line commit Blake Fisher was back in South Bend.
The four-star prospect remains not only solid in his commitment, but he's been Notre Dame's best recruiter...ever.
"We honestly just had a calm and chill day," Fisher stated following the visit. "I got to learn what Notre Dame was about and got down to business with meetings and presentations."
2021 safety Justin Walters was also on campus and Fisher was able to connect with him as well as 2021 defensive end David Abiara.
"I do know he enjoyed himself and had a great day," Fisher said of Walters. "Justin and David fit into our program and scheme great. "Both are high achievers with great families and great attitudes.
"We need that in our program and with those two, we can take even more of a closer step to the No. 1 class."
The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder got in on Friday night and had a chance to bond with some of his future teammates.
"My bond with the current players is unbelievable," Fisher said. "It feels like I’ve been around them my whole life. I feel comfortable and welcomed every time.
"There isn’t one specific guy that I’m the closest with because the whole thing is a brotherhood."
2021 defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio committed in South Bend on the same day as Fisher in June and both players enjoyed catching up on Saturday.
"Seeing Rubio is always good because that man has so much knowledge and is a great dude," explained Fisher. "We were talking about dudes we're going after and how we can win a Natty.
"It's always great talking to him."
Notre Dame offensive line coach Jeff Quinn has been a fixture at Avon High School (Ind.) in recent weeks and head coach Brian Kelly stopped by recently.
And while the message was similar, Fisher greatly appreciated the time with both coaches on Saturday.
"Coach Quinn and Coach Kelly’s message was honestly the same as always," said Fisher. "Keep doing what I’m doing and stay level-headed and keep academics first.
"They are extremely proud of my success and how much I care about this program."
