2023 S Tackett Curtis Talks Notre Dame Offer, Future Plans
Few prospects saw their recruiting profiles explode this spring like Tackett Curtis.
Just in the month of March, the 2023 Louisiana safety added offers from USC, Georgia, Auburn, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Stanford, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Louisville, Arkansas, Miami and Ole Miss among others.
In April, he added LSU, Florida, Florida State, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
And on Wednesday, the Many High School standout added Notre Dame to that list.
“I'm pumped about it,” the 6-foot-2, 207-pounder said of the Irish offer.
“They've got it going over there. It's such a great program. They've been a great program since I was little. They used to be my second favorite team back when they played Alabama in the national championship and they had Manti Te'o. He used to be my guy.”
New Irish defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman delivered the offer to Curtis.
“He said I checked all the boxes,” Curtis said of Freeman. “He said I was a no-brainer. They need me to win the next national championship.
“I'd say the next step is me getting to see them in person. I would like to get up to South Bend to see them and just talk to all the coaches and have them get to see me and meet in person. I think that's a big deal to be able to keep the relationship going. I'm going to try to get by there this summer. If I can't get by there this summer, I'm trying to catch a game this season, so I'll see them one way or the other.”
Curtis said he has “a ton of visits locked in” for June.
“I'm trying to get to different schools every day,” he said.
His current schedule already calls for him to make stops at Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Stanford and USC next month.
“I've been starting relationships with a lot of schools,” he said. “It's hard to turn a bunch of other schools down when they've been talking to me for a while and asking me if I would go. I've got a lot planned.
“I'm trying to get Notre Dame in there too, because I think that's a big step in the process.”
Curtis is hoping to get a feel for each program.
“I want to get to know their culture and the kind of culture they have in the locker room, what kind of guys they have and their values as a team. Do the coaches carry on what they push in their school? What's their motto? If their motto is grind on the field and off the field, do the right things and have good players that I can really grow with and good coaches that can develop me into the best player that I can be so I can reach my ceiling.
“I think I've got a lot of potential and I know I could get a lot better. So that means a lot, having the right coaches to be able to develop me. That's why this is such a big deal to me with finding the right school with the right coaches.”
