Film Don't Lie | Devin Moore
Things just won’t stop rolling for the Notre Dame defensive staff as they’ve landed their fourth commitment in the last week.
This one is huge. The Irish landed defensive back Devin Moore and he immediately became the most underrated player in their 2022 class. I think he’s one of the most underrated prospects in the entire cycle and I have him as the top rated defensive back they have committed.
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 190
Projected Position: Cornerback or free safety
ISD Grade: 92 (4-star)
National Average Grade: 89.5 (4-star)
What he does best:
Moore is someone who played a ton of safety as a sophomore before playing more corner as a junior. He could legitimately excel at both at Notre Dame.
At safety he showed outstanding range and his ability to track the football is fantastic. The level of production he has jumps out with his film and he does a nice job of attacking the ball at its highest point as well.
His instincts and recognition are special. That combined with his fluidity and length allow him to make plays like this.
He has the traits to be very good in press man coverage and he does a great job staying in phase while mirroring receivers.
He’s a flat out playmaker who shows an intelligence and understanding of what is coming his way.
What he needs to improve:
I’d like to see him be more consistently physical as a tackler. He’s more of a cut tackler than someone who hits through and wraps up all the time.
There are times when he can get a bit high with his transitions and that makes him not as explosive. He’s a natural athlete, but being more technically sound with his transitions will help him a lot.
What’s his ceiling?
Whether it’s safety or corner, I think Moore could be an incredibly productive player and an impact starter for multiple seasons. He has a game that translates well in any scheme and that’s going to help him no matter where Notre Dame slots him in to start his career.
I’m surprised that he’s ranked so low by 247 and ESPN, but feel comfortable with grade on him.
Who he could be:
Former Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo
